Mali – A Journey Through a Magical Country

Toumani Diabaté, the master of the 21-string Kora-harp, invited photographer Horst A. Friedrichs and author Peter Pannke to learn the innermost truths about Mali.

As they traveled along the Niger river and through the desert towards Timbuktu, a fascinating panorama unfolded before them. They explored varied and impressive landscapes like the rocky, inaccessible Dogon land, the mud mosque in Djenne and the tropical forests of the south. Encountering a spectrum of local personalities like Toumani Diabaté, Malik Sidibé, dancers, fortune tellers and dream interpreters.
